PASEO LOS BANCOS - PUERTO QUITO

El noroccidente de Pichincha esconde un sinfín de caminos que comunican cantones, parroquias y recintos mismos que conforman esta zona de clima y condiciones privilegiadas para la práctica del ciclismo de montaña.

De San Miguel de Los Bancos a Puerto Quito se atraviesa ríos, trochas, plantaciones de palmito y paisajes distintos en 50 kilómetros de puro pedal.

Nuestra ruta comienza en Los Bancos, luego de pedalear unos kilómetros por la carretera Calacalí – La Independencia, nos adentraremos en el recinto Chipal, lugar en donde tomaremos un camino lastrado que bordea el río Achiote en medio de una vegetación exuberante y caseríos casi despoblados.

En la primera parte del camino pedalearemos cerca de 16 kilómetros, atravesando una trocha de 4 kilómetros en los que por momentos tendremos que caminar debido a las condiciones del camino. Una vez que dejemos atrás la trocha, cruzaremos el río Achiote para salir al recinto Nueva Aurora por camino lastrado en dirección al recinto Paraíso Alto que posee un pequeño bosque de caña guadua.

Luego tendremos un veloz descenso hasta el río Caony para salir a la carretera Calacalí – La Independencia y continuar hasta Puerto Quito.

GALAPAGOS

AMAZONIA EN EL FLOTEL JUNGLE DISCOVERY

DÍA 1
Tomamos el vuelo doméstico desde Quito al Coca con TAME a las 8.10 am. Transfer desde el aeropuerto a Puerto Gregorio, en las orillas del Río Aguarico, llegando a las 12:30 pm. Tras un delicioso lunch, tomaremos una canoa de motor río abajo hasta llegar a las 04:00 pm al Yate Jungle Discovery, que nos espera en la confluencia de los río Cuyabeno y Aguarico.
Navegando a través del Río Aguarico podemos disfrutar la vista de la selva amazónica hasta alcanzar la entrada al Rio Zábalo a las 06:30 pm. Tendremos una verdadera aventura nocturna observando caimanes. Luego de ello, tendremos un coctel de bienvenida a bordo y el guía explicará el programa del siguiente día.


DÍA 2
Desayuno a las 06:00am. A las 07:30 am empezamos a navegar por el Río Zábalo en canoa de motor por cerca de una hora. En el camino tendremos la posibilidad de observar la fascinante diversidad de especies de la reserva Cofán, como guacamayos, loros, tucanes y con suerte monos. Luego caminaremos a través de bosque primario acompañados por un guía nativo cofán, quien nos explicará acerca de la flora y fauna así como los usos de las distintas plantas medicinales. Tras regresar al yate tendremos el almuerzo y tiempo para descansar. En la tarde iremos a pescar pirañas atesanalmente. A las 08.00pm cenaremos y tendremos un avance de lo que haremos el siguiente día.

DÍA 3
Desayuno a las 07:00am, seguido por una caminata a través del bosque. Nuestro guía Cofán de Nuevo nos indicará y explicará la biodiversidad de la Reserva de Producción Faunística Cuyabeno. Al mediodía almorzaremos a bordo.
En la tarde visitaremos la Comunidad Cofán de Zabálo, a media hora en el Río Aguarico. Tomaremos parte en las actividades culturales de la comunidad como preparar Casabe, su comida típica y también Yoco, una bebida natural.
También aprenderemos cómo extraer la fibra de Chambira de una hoya de palma. Esta fibra es usada para hamacas y bolsos. Además tendremos la oportunidad de visitar su centro de reproducción de Tortugas y comprar sus artesanías.
Entrando la noche, regresaremos con el Jungle Discovery río arriba hacia la entrada del río Cuyabeno. Tras la cena tendremos la posibilidad de ir a una caminata nocturna buscando insectos, anfibios y otros animales.

DÍA 4
Muy temprano en la mañana iremos a observar aves. Luego del desayuno navegaremos con canoa de motor hacia el río de aguas negras, hábitat de los delfines rosados de río. Iremos en una caminata más extensa a través del bosque junto a un guía nativo quichua. En la tarde visitaremos una familia quichua cuya cultura difiere a la de los Cofanes. Tendremos tiempo para pescar y tras ello la cena y un coctel de despedida.

DÍA 5
Desayuno a las 06:00 am. Iremos en una caminata a las orillas del río Cuyabeno. A las 11:00 am emprenderemos el retorno hacia Puerto Gregorio. En el camino disfrutaremos del almuerzo en una playa del río. Transfer de regreso al aeropuerto en Coca, donde tomaremos un vuelo hacia Quito a las 5:30.

On the beach

Montañita

Montañita -is a hippy village and the surfing Mecca of Ecuador. Is like a traveler’s dream world. A tiny little town, one main street, hostels and restaurants everywhere and the people are so friendly that it is almost impossible not to make friends. The beach is beautiful, the ocean is warm, the town is a paradise, which has a wild night life. Just sun and sand…paraiso terrenal

I eagerly look forward to when I can return ... hopefully soon!!

Canoa

To Canoa we arrived by a boat from Bahía de Caráquez. A small surfing town. i liked it so much couse everyone is so chilled out there and also because the beach is gorgeous and big, there is a lot of beautiful sand and perfect waves for surfing. we stayed there just for one day but it was enought to fall in love with this place. The warmth of its people, delicious food, and beaches will always be our greatest memories

Bahía de Caráquez is a little coastal city with a lovely sandy beach on the Pacific ocean. It is located in the province of Manabí and only takes some five hours to reach Bahía by bus from Quito and four hours from Guayaquil.

A small port city has evolved into the most pleasant city on Ecuador’s coast. This breezy town is clean, relaxed and safe place to live in. Feels like a place you’d visit just to walk the streets. The waterfront is lined with good restaurants serving fresh seafood and delicious typical dishes. For me there was nothing better than patacones( fired bananas):)

We spent all weekend bathing in the ocean, walking around the peninsula and watching the amazing waves hitting the shore. Also we tried out kayaking. I had sooooo much fun there and cant wait till I go back.

Los Frailes

Los Frailes - one of the most beautiful unspoilt beaches in Ecuador, is a beautiful sheltered bay with a pure white sand beach and surrounded by a dry tropical forest. Ideally for anyone in need of relaxation. The sea is calm and good for swimming.

Due to its location inside Machalilla National Park a ticket is needed for entry ($15). From the bus station is a little bit far to the beach so the best option to get there is using a motorcycle taxi, like those seen in India.

When my boyfriend and me arrived to la playa, there was nobody, so all beach and ocean were just for our relaxing and enjoyment. When you think of days spent bathing in the sea and resting on golden sands- Los Frailes is certainly the best.

Когда-то здесь провел свои бесценные для науки исследования Чарльз Дарвин.

Rodando por los Andes

En Ecuador siempre podras tener lugares inigualables para andar en tu bicicleta, y mucho mas en los andes donde la adrenalina brota en cada bajada de 20 km por caminos donde saltos y derrapes no estan por demas. Así mismo pendientes que pondran a la vista tu esfuerzo por llegar a la cumbre. Un sin numero de paisajes pueden ser cruzados desde altas montañas hasta tierras cálidas en menos de un día. De una chaqueta tendars que terminar la ruta con una camiseta , o meterte al río que baja por la montaña para refrescarte en el calor de las planicies costeras. Todo esto puedes encontrar en Ecuador y mucho mas.

Puyo- its a small city located 1 hours form Baños on east, close to where the jungle begins in Ecuador. When we just arrived we rested a bit in the hotel, we knew that trip would be difficult, because next two days we would live in the jungles in the tribe, learning their traditions, customes and culture. To get there we had to go by car half an hour and than walk 2 hours, but we were with a small kid so it took us 3 hours to get a tribe. People in the tribe are very nice, they were taking care of us. Spanish is their second language, their first language is Quichua and in a tribe they have a small school where they teach children Spanish, thats why older people dont know Spanish so good like children. Children are so happy when tourists come to the tribe, they are very friendly.

This two days we were eating just typical food, here you will try the most delicious fish in your life. They eat the plants and animals that live in the area. The tribes build houses form the materials they found in their area. Indian families cook their meals over the fire. Jose was the head of the tribe, he had two wifes and 21 children. During the day he was showing us caves and the most beautiful landscapes in the jungles and in the nights he was telling exiting stories about spirits of his fathers.

Not far from Quito situated Middle of the World monument or Midtad del Mundo . A place with a lot of museums, shops and restaurants. There we took some photos on a red line that separates two hemispheres, with one leg on south and another on the north of the planet. But is not the place where the real equator is.... down the road , about a few hundred meters there is a place much more interesting- Museo de Sitio Intinan -an outside museum where due to its unique location directly on the equator, a variety of interesting experiments demonstrating physical anomalies. Local English speaking guide explained us about the phisical effect of being on the Ecuadorian line. We balanced an egg on a nail, and measured the weakening affect by standing on the equator- an unique experience that can only happen in the middle of the World.

Baños- a beautiful city, lying at the base of vulcan Tungurahua, which erupted recently this year, situated in a valley of many spectacular waterfalls. It takes just four hours by bus from Quito to get there. Baños offers hot springs, horseback riding, trekking, rafting, climbing and mountain biking.

Everything about our trip was simply amazing. We decided to rent a 4- wheeler ( $ 20/3 hours) and ride to waterfalls. Pailon del Diablo (the Devil’s Cauldron) - the most beautiful of them, situated not far from Banos( about one hour ). On the way back we took a cable car that took us above mountain river and waterfall with breathtaking wiev.
